The Evolution of Asana
The asana practice has been evolving over thousands of years, but we are presently informed and supported by a wealth of recent and ongoing anatomical and scientific research that has become available since the renaissance of yoga, over the last 25 years. We must appropriately apply this wisdom and teach yoga as a living tradition, recognising that there has to be more awareness and care in the teaching of the physical practices to eradicate wear and tear and the potential for injury. This integration will only enrich yoga’s potency as preventative and curative medicine while helping to transmit the efficacy of yoga as the most effective support for wellness available in the world today.
